REMEMBERING BIG MOMMA

On July 31, 2010 the history of Carriage Occasions has changed forever.  Felina broke her front leg out in the pasture and had to be put down.  That is just something we could have never expected, she was so big and strong, nothing could ever hurt her.

I first bought Jim T as a weanling for my husband Steve back in 2004.  We took one look at Felina (Jim T's mom) and just fell in love.  We explained to Everett Smith owner of Sugarbush Hitch, if ever he wanted to sell Felina or Fancy (Jim T's sister), they would have a home with us.  Within a year they were both with us.

As time passed we returned to Everett for (Felina's granddaughter) and Fancy's daughter (Striker).  You will see her out soon but we sadly wish that we could have had all three generations together out giving carriage rides.  We know that Striker will love it as much as Felina did and Fancy does.

Felina was one horse that loved to do her job, back in 2007 she wasn't feeling well (colic like symptoms) and she had that weekend off.  I put her out in our front yard to graze around while the other were getting ready to leave for downtown.  She was so upset that when the truck and trailer pulled out of our driveway, she headed up the road following and hollering (like hey what about me, I get to go too).  She loved the attention she commanded and her treats from everyone.

On November 24, 2007 we lost Jim T to a strange bout of Selenium Deficiency Colic.  We hope that he and his momma are out running and playing in beautiful green pastures in horse heaven.
